The hub caps are coming off?

The caps should fit over the raised area on the wheel rim. Its possible one of then is worn making a poor fit, but it seems strange.

Yes the hub caps, they are original, i don´t understand the cause, but i saw some pieces here that you put on wheels to fixed the hub caps, you know?

The hubcap clips are just for the domed hubcaps on wide five wheels. On a '71, the flat hub caps just clip on the wheel mouldings.

I can only assume the hubcaps are either poor quality, or so worn that they are not clipping on. It seems odd that all 4 wheels and caps are doing the same if they are original. If they were a set of repros, Id understand it.

I get another set of caps, second hand og, and try them.

If the hub caps are original, is it possible that the actual wheels may not be the correct / original wheels but something similar??? As lots of these busses had things changed over the years, especially when their value was at its lowest. :?

Hi ozziedog, if you see mine wheels are original.
I see in this site a man that put some pieces in the wheels to fixed the hub caps, but don´t remember where was.

Hi Fernando, I don`t know what is going on there with your hub caps, but there is no way a genuine VW hub cap of that era will fall off of a genuine wheel if it is the correct hub cap and wheel. I`ve had repro hub caps and they fall off just for the fun of it and because of the flex in the wheel usually when cornering. I have seen some `modifications` where people are trying to put wide five hub caps onto narrow five wheels but most of these involve self tappers or glue of some description. Are you trying to put an early hub cap onto a later wheel perhaps ? I`m afraid these are the three alternatives, wrong wheels as in not genuine for that model year, or wrong hub caps as in not genuine, or the wrong hub caps for the wheels. Some things mix and match but some things don`t which is a shame.
