My earlybay came to me with empi wheels on, with low profiles on the front, and normal size tyres on the rear. The smaller diameter fronts mean the speedo reads err somewhat optimistically...
Trouble is, when you take into account that I have a limited mileage insurance policy, it also means the odometer runs up quicker too....
Kind of like the van look, so is there any way of callibrating the gearing on the speedo drive...?

I've always had limited mileage policies - but I've never been asked for an annual mileage reading!! I'd have thought it unlikely that you'd be caught out on this

I have a limited mileage policy and have to declare my mileage every year.

Also have to send off signed declaration, Norton last year sent a letter at 6 months asking me to check milage covered, suggesting that I could contact them to increase the limit if I wanted to.

there are companies that will calobrate your spedo. TBH my bay came with standard wheels on the front and it still read 30mph over my actual speed, so i dont think they are that accurate any way. to combat this I have disconnected my speedo and rely on my satnav for speed

Not quite the same but I've never been asked to confirm the mileage and when I enquired once for the Seat it was merely a paperwork exercise.....

Any of the clock refurbishers should be able to steer you in the right direction though not sure thats gonna be doable changing the gears not hard its just getting the right gear may prove difficult.....

30mph over?   you running monster truck tyres then?

I always work on the assumption that it is best to upfront with insurers, if they need evidence they may find it (MOT Certs is often what they use).

I know "friends" who just unscrew their speedo for long journeys or who have spare speedo's but honesty is the best policy. At end of the day, if your speedo is 10% out, in a court of law it can be easily proven in your favour so the insurance company wont bother.

I'm with footman james who offer an unlimited millage policy (mine costs £210 with a £13k agreed value)
