I am researching the best tyre combination for my desired styling look and I decided on 175/55 R15 on the front.

Compared to 'slam / Smart car tyres' the 175/55's should provide a more comfortable ride with more side-wall to absorb the vibrations / bumps etc. However, I cannot find anywhere online that supplies tyres in that size with at least an 85 load rating (515kg).

Where are people buying their tyres? :sign0009:

You won't get a 175/55/15 suitably rated for a bus.
I've had 175/55/15 Continental EcoContact3 fitted for over 3 years and >10k miles with no issues though. They're rated at 77 (412kg).

I think you are right, I have been searching online for a while and cannot find anything in that size over 77 rated.

I know you're probably right with having no issues with the 175/55s and plenty of people run those and even lower rated ones (165/50s), however I just cannot decide.

Did you tell your insurance exactly what tyre size and spec you have? :poke:

I guess if you do and they accept the modification and still offer you insurance, they will have to pay out if something happens and cannot rely on the excuse that the tyres were incorrect for the vehicle?

All modifications (of which there are many) declared and cover issued.
As long as you spend the extra on a branded tyre, you'll be OK.
