Had a battery for my Bay, an 063, checked it this morning and the bugger is leaking. So it looks like I'm gonna have to by a new one which is a bind as it was only a few months old. So what size batteries do you guys run?

I popped down to my local scrapyard with a voltmeter, if you've got a good un the voltage will be over 12 volts, and there is plenty to choose from! found a beast of a battery in good order and fairly new for £10!!!

Cant remember what battery i have in the van (I will check at the weekend) :D

The best place locally for me is Bristol Batteries  http://www.bristolbatteries.com/

They are fantastic, tell them the size of space you have for the battery, what it is going to be running and they can even build you the best battery they can for that space!!!

Got all my batteries from there. Well worth a call. :D

I'm going to be running a 71amp alternator and a 110aH leisure battery. I was just wondering what the best size was. As a had a nearly new 063 for free I thought that would be adequate, but as I have to buy another now thought I'd go for the best size. Does that make sense?

I have to admit i have no idea what size mine is  I know that i have an 85aH leisure battery as i have only just installed it. Will take a look and post up.

Thats a big old leisure battery you have in yours Speedwell68, you got a washing machine in there :D

Kev

i didnt go for a leisure battery, ive got an audio battery, its an optima yellow top, deep cell battery, so can be completely discharged and recharged loads of time more then normal batteries

I'm gonna use it, and they are only a few quid dearer than an 85ah one. I'm gonna have:

12v Interior Lights + 12v Awning lights (for when there is no 240v hookup)
CD head unit and autochanger
MiniDisc Player
Mobile phone charger
12v Laptop charger
12v Dust buster.
Maybe a the 3 way fridge on 12v if the gas is low or there is no 240v hookup.

We just got a period camping oven too, it fits over a gas ring on the hob, which heats a plate inside and holds it a constant temperature. If you wanna adjust the temperature just use the knob on the gas ring.

I don't like to slum it.:D
