I'm looking to get a set of twin carbs for my 1600tp but will be upgrading to a 1776 next year. Which carbs are best? Can the carbs be jetted to suit both engine sizes?
Thanks.

You wont need anything bigger than a 40 you'll probably end up with 30 or 32 venturis anyway.
I have 36DRLAs on my 1700 type 1 and they are plenty!

I had twin Weber 40's on a 1600 and it drove lovely. I choked them down with 28mm venturies then played about with the jets till it was sweet.

36's would be the best on a 1600 but both would be the nuts on a 1776.

How about these?

Anyone got them?
Also will I need an electric fuel pump?

iv just put a set of 34 ICTs on my engine, but haven't got round to putting it back in yet, so can't really offer much help, i know a few guys on here have them though, and seem to like em.

empi webbers are a bit hit or miss, one person i know that had there 40s, were absolute *****, the people at race shack couldnt set them up even though they were brand new, but someone else had them with no bother....

'Correct' size for carbs is far more about cam and headwork than capacity.
With a stock cam, baby dells or icts should be fine, even on a 1776.
That said, 36 or 40s give you more potential room for the 1776 and, as above, either can be made to work ok even on a 1600 with small enough vents.
Then if you go for decent heads and a cam in the 1776, you'll just need to swap the vents out for something larger :D
But don't underestimate the cost of a swapping it all around! (about 60quid for vents plus will need new jets too).

I run twin 40 dells on my 1776 and they are fantastic. Set them up and forget about them i havnt touched them for a year now.
They are jetted to the engine size so you would need smaller jets for a 1600 engine...

34's jetted right will be plenty, 40's etc can work and be made work but in reality are too big.

You will not need a electric fuel pump, a standard pump is fine.

Hi guys,
Just wondering I am starting to collect my parts for next winters new engine build up,
And I have come across some twin dellorto 36 drla's , with manifolds, csp filters, linkage, etc in real good condition
And just wondered what's the value as I don't want to go over the top lol

Cheers
Shaun

I have a pair of 36 IDF webbers that came off a 1500 alfa, i'm told they will work fine as they are on my 1600-1641 twin port.

I'm nowhere near ready to fit them yet so will cross this bridge when i get there

Awsome carbs I have a pair on my 1600 tp give me a shout if you struggle
