Why do you have to wear speedo's in France?

Well i've booked a holiday in France and have since found out you have to wear budgie smuggling speedo trunks in the pool!!
whats wrong with the french with this stupid rule?

I had the same thought Darius, I've booked a family camping holiday in Brittany and the campsite states ' no swimming trunks' in their swimming pool. What's that all about :? ?

Had to buy budgie smugglers for a holiday in France last year, the missus found it hilariuos :evil:
Worst part was when I bought them in the shop, the assistant held them up for the entire shop queue to see and shouted to a colleague to ask for the price

Got into an argument last year on holiday in France with a lifeguard. I was wearing speedo swimming shorts and he kicked me out of the pool when I was swimming with my kids. :evil: I asked him to explain why I had to wear dick stickers and he had no reply apart from "this is the rules". Worse part of it is I had to drag my kids out of the pool. Fricken ridiculous.

I went to France last year and had to buy a pair of speedos for me and my son. Cost me about £40 on top of getting into the water park. I went for the tight shorts that cover a bit of leg and they were ok with that. I didnt want to go for the full on budgie smugglers and end up with an 'inbetweeners' moment

This really winds me up. I'm bad enough with rules that are there for a reason!

I got caught out on holiday in France a couple of years ago too. We were in the middle of nowhere but found what was probably their equivalent to Matalan on a retail park and bought the only pair they had left but which unfortunatley was 2 sizes too small. Ouch. The Mrs and the nipper found it very amusing but unfortunately there are still a few photos around as a permanent record.

I asked a French colleague about this as I also fell foul of it on a trip to France.

"it iz ze law".

Apparently, it is an actual French health & safety ruling to maintin hygene by limiting the migration of short & curlies.....................

They dont have to be "budgie smugglers" as such, they can be any close fitting ("Toight") trunks, but no boarders.


The other possibility is that its yet another attempt to make Johnny Foreigner look stupid
