As above. Im running stock 1600sp. Travelling through Europe this summer so thinking ill need some extra cooling just to be on the safe side?

I know this has been talked about so much in the past. So sorry

Both, the deep sump will aid cooling a tad but primarily the benifit comes from a greater supply of oil to do the same task, extending the life of the oil, plus the deep sump will eliminate the drawing of air under hard cornering, steep ascents and descents.

neither - on a stock engine its not worth it - have done similar trips in very hot conditioons fully loaded with no probs. save your £ in my opinion.

Thats good to hear.... maybe im just being a bit over cautious

Dont bother with anything dood, you will be fine on a stock engine. I only run a dwide glide on the notch and that has a 1776, full flow is a bit over kill really, im not racing im cruising

easy has hit the nail on the head there.....
cruising is the key...not racing.

Dont flog it too much and it will be fine. spend the money on ensuring the engine is in tip top before you go - fresh oil, good points/condenser, coil, plugs, air/fuel filter etc etc & FUEL LINES . make the engines life as easy as possible.

carry along some spares for most of that list too including clutch and acc cable.

+ Have a nice holiday! :D

from the mouth of Mr Laurie pettit, a deep sump should extend your oil changes by a good 2K, when you consider you should be aiming at 3k oil changes that in itself makes good sense, add a cooler and expect a little more plus if the cooler is thermostatically controlled then it only kicks in when necessary so no overcooling, personally I would go with the deep sump on that premiss alone....which ever way you look at it in theory the engine should cope with everyday driving abroad so it shouldnt be of any great concern.
