Right, appologies for my lack of understanding, but i am not very up to speed with what will and won't work on my 69 bay!

It came with an (unfitted) transaxle code AO 936829

I beleive this to be suitable for a 1600cc and equiped with LSD (from my research) but i am unsure if it is suitable for my van? I can't find for sure whether it is irs or swingaxle

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers
Sam

Sorry for semi-hijacking this thread but why do Bays have a LSD and not just a normal differential?

Thye dont all have LSD, certain boxes were made for certain markets,

LSD if boxes in vans with poor road conditions and snow.

Mountain Ratio's for exactly that, lower ratio's so better for getting up the hill's but a comprimise for on the flat.

The number of these specialist boxes were much smaller than the standard box with a standard diff.

Is it possible this has been converted to irs? It looks like it has irs driveshafts from what my research is telling me!

Its also possible the the code is A0936829 (ay zero) rather than AO936829 (ay oh)

Anymore help on this is greatly appreciated, thanks for everyones input so far!

Sam

NO, There are a few of the super slammed crowd that run bug box's in Bay's but they involve a conversion kit which I presume you dont have, so at present no that wont fit in your bay.

Ok thats a shame, i guess i'll sell it and get a suitable bus box then!

Thanks for your help!

Sam

A bug box is very easy to fit into a bay I have one.
As a rough guid you need.
2x mk2 golf Cv joint
1x extention for the boden tube
3x 17mm spacer for the front gearbox to nose cone mount.
Cut a V in the front mount to clear gearbox nose cone webbing.
1x longer clutch cable.

There is a chap on here that sells a conversion kit and a
had all the info I think his user name is Axelfoley

Ok so i take it that means it won't work in my bus?

Unless it's a 1303 beetle box which is higher ratios I wouldn't even consider a beetle box in a bus, as Alex says they take a bit of work to fit.

Anyone noticed how 6 rib boxes seem to be creeping up in value again. Tried to buy one from the US the other day but he still wanted £650 for it and the last one decent one I sold on here last year was way less than that!
