As above, just the rear backing plates or with the rear brakes (preferably without hubs) for a 69er

Thanks

Not 100% sure, but if these are the same as my 1970 which I think they are, then they is like rocking horse poo poo . The later ones can be obtained easily though and re configured easy enough and if you are good with puters then you may find a thread with me detailing how to do it.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I did it with a little help ;)

Mine are like yours. Later ones are different and yes they are easily available but not these, and seems like you already know. Anyway I am trying to get a pair from US though pricey as hell but atleast I could get some original early ones. But I am not 100% sure if these are correct. Here is a pic that the seller just sent me from US.

Yep, that looks like the one. I remember now what had to be done,, the little cylinder that the adjuster fits into is straight like that one in the pic. On the later ones the cylinder was angled for the adjusters, and that was the biggest part of the conversion, just moving the cylinder off the old plate to the new ones. The other little detail was making some knurled wheel retention springs to stop them loosing their adjustment, and I think that was about it

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, My mate helped me / did it  ;)

^^^Is by any chance you've a pair of NOS ones for sale? ;)

No.
An easier modification than Ozziedog's is to modify a late Split backing plate (if you can find one in good shape). You just have to enlarge the central hole. The cylinders, shoes, push bars etc are the same.

Ok thanks for the tip mate. But I guess I will just get these (the ones seen above) shipped over to me for £75.

I got some from the States a while ago at $50 each that ended up costing me about £75 each after carriage, Import Duty and VAT.

Thanks Chad for the info matey, I at least started cheaper at $30 each. I hope its nothing more than what you paid for your pair, when iits time to put them on my bus. :)

I have one of these in the garage. Bought a set for my 1970 van but one was a 1969 and did not fit and remained unused. Cost me £45 if your interested. If so let me know and will email you photos. Its a rock solid import. There is some slight damage to one of the rims

I had same problem trying to locate some backing plates, I placed an ad on the samba and was prepared to buy from the states, along came MCJ products and he supplied me a good second hand set. :)

i have a pair of correct 68/69 ones. no longer needed due to 944 conversion. shot blasted and grey primered. £100 delivered
