    Con-Rods Small End Bush

Basically with little ends, the wrist pin should be a slide fit with zero play.. Any kind of movement and they need replacing

Expert opinions needed for engine puzzle!

Check the dipstick boot on the bottom of the oil filler tube... If it has had a new one fitted recently, then the petrol would've accelerated the rate at which it fails... If it is that, I have some viton ones which are oil stable, unlike the rest that are available in the EU/UK

type IV engine in an early bay

What're your plans on stopping the fan sucking in hot air off the exhaust? Normally with a type 4 in an EB I would recommend going with type 1 or Porsche cooling. That way you don't need to hack the engine bay about!! 8)

Tinware for a 1600 into a crosser GRP?

I make the over flywheel (front) tin in GRP... I don't make a massive amount of them as they're a pain in the hoop to trim once you pull it from the mould...

Engine advice - is this ok?

Make sure it's not actually the thrust bearing moving in the case...you'll need the flywheel off to see... Push the pulley towards the flywheel end, then watching the bearing, pull it back... If the bearing doesn't move then try pushing it back into the case No movement = win Bearing moving =...

Engine advice - is this ok?

As it's this far apart, then a de-glaze/hone and a new set of rings isn't a bad idea!! What's the endfloat like??

    Engine Compression Test

1800... Could well be cracked heads as well!! Biggest valve heads that vw did apart from the Porsche 2l out of the 914... Of all the heads I've looked at, 1800 ones seem to be the worst for cracking through the exhaust port into the head!! Good luck with it
