    VW Engines

Graham and Dave (Midland Early Bay) built the engine in my bus, and it's running loverly jubbly thanks very much. I'd recommend them. T2D are only in Burwell though, and I think they have an engine shop too. don't know if they'd do a recon..

looking for garage space to strip down and prep for paint

So we've had our van since January now and all is going swimmingly. It's a solid US import and it's only flaw is it's shabby, non OG paint. It was always part of the plan to do something about the paint, and having had nearly a full summer out of the old boy I'm starting to think about treating...

    curious fuel gauge behaviour.

I'll have a go when I get a chance. Filming and checking ground that is.

    curious fuel gauge behaviour.

Anyone any idea why my fuel gauge would 'wipe' in sympathy with the windscreen wipers. I had my first wet run last night which was when I noticed this, although it might only be when the headlights are also on...

    isn't it fantastic?

 well not quite ON the drive, but on the verge outside... And the lady who stopped was just passing, not resident. Turned out she and her husband had just spent 7 years restoring an earlybay, so kindred spirits and all that. It really is good to know that there are plenty of decent people...

    isn't it fantastic?

We've only owned our bay 8 months now, but its enough to restore your faith in human nature! Everyone is so friendly when your in a bus, dubbers and civvies alike, but today I'd like to say a special thanks to the lady who gave me a tow to safety when my accelerator cable snapped on the a12...

    westy top box fitting?

That makes a bit more sense. In the bus there are 3 metal claws (with a hole for a missing one) which are screwed into the sides. It makes sense that a net would just hang on those. I had in mind some sort of bracket arrangement on the base of the box would clip in to those, but they make far...

    westy top box fitting?

My Westy pop top has 3 out of the 4 clips for fitting the top box and the sort of hangery bracket at the rear, but having looked at the fixings I have no idea how the top box would hang from them. The van came without the topbox, and I reckon it would be a handy storage space, so was going to...

Carb help Pict 34 won't idle...

Nah, wasn't that. I think this is the engine you built up for the brown and white westy by the way. Now the carb is all sorted she's running sweet as a nut again... Touch wood it's a good'un!

1970 westy cuts out when cold - can anyone help?

I've just had a similar problem. It the fuel is coming out of the carb when the engines NOT running, it could be a perished gland or seal. Where is the carb leaking from? When is it leaking? Other thing to remember is if fuel can get out, air can get in, which means when cold you'll struggle to...

Carb help Pict 34 won't idle...

Right sussed it. If I completely clear the air from the fuel filter it runs ok. But clearing the air seems almost impossible unless the filter is mounted vertically. There is some kind of sporadic leak from the throttle body but its unpredictable at best. I reckon that there is some air...

Cheers for the offer, I actually work near ely, so not a million miles from you. But it has been running well so I think the carb is fine, I just need some pointers setting up

Carb help Pict 34 won't idle...

I don't get it. Had it running peachy before lunch, ticking over lovely. Turned it off, hadsome lunch. Started it up again and its back how it was. It's not the solenoid as it's possible to get it running nice, but it won't stay that way. Grrr.

Carb help Pict 34 won't idle...

Hello all, I've recently had the brown beast serviced and tuned. It was running sweet as a nut, but weeping a bit of fuel from the accelerator pump diaphragm so a carb service was in order. Carb was stripped, cleaned reset and new gaskets and glands used where necessary. Now I can't get the...

    Wanted - Westy Roof Hinge

The aluminium tube cross piece on one side of my pop top has been bent and split slightly. The roof functions fine, and I imagine that if I make sure that the channels that the tube slides along stay lubricated it will be ok for a while yet, but it will need replacing. Does anyone have a roof...
