    Marks inside rocker cover

Hitting the rocker cover could happen for many reasons, like valve seats that were cut too deep in the head for example, but normally would be due to high lift cams. What cam you using? Swivel foot adjusters? Abel🤓

    filings from running in................

Hi Stefan The fullflow will catch most of the particles, only the very fine powder like will pass through, that’s why changing the oil a few times is crucial on the initial period. There’s no way to avoid that; all machined surfaces have microscopic burrs and edges that when working together...

Tachometer- what am I doing wrong?

Have you tried using the white/ black wire for the signal? Try it, i think it will work😃👍 Abel

    Engine mount, drill or tap?!

I would drill, tap and use helicoils as this is how the cases comes from factory. Screwing into magnesium will strip the threads very quickly.😉 Abel🤓

Tachometer- what am I doing wrong?

Mike normally the green wire is the one that goes to the negative on the coil, maybe double check if that’s not the case on your tacho🤔 Abel🤓

    filings from running in................

There will be some metal in the oil when an engine is either built with new parts or reconditioned. For that reason the engine builders recommend changing the oil after initial break in on the bench, then after a short few miles and after that normal oil changes as per factory. When new parts...

    Adding gauges to padded dash

Mike does your Bus have a parcel shelve? If yes, you can mount the two gauge pod on the shelve next to the handbrake lever. If you don’t have a shelve, you could use some gauge cups and screw them under the dash pad. Those cups can be moved any direction and look very cool too😉👌 Abel

    Vintage speed shifter

I have used both the early and late versions of the VS; the early i would not recommend but the late version works really well imho. The design has changed and the reverse is engaged via a cable now. Very smooth operation, i will get one for my Bus when she’s ready to have a shifter lol😁 Abel😃

    Exhaust wrap

I use the white ones from Elring with just a smear of Kuril T and they seal just fine😃 Abel

    Stuck oil pressure relief valve

Have you removed the screw and spring already and it did not fall? Cranking the engine might shoot the piston down and make a huge mess😳😁 I use an M12 tap to grab them and with a little twist they normally come out😊 Abel

    Engine diagnosis please

How much blow-by are you getting on the breather tube? If more than just a small flow of air, then your cylinders/piston rings are not sealing, which might be time for a rebuild. Losing oil everywhere can be a symptom of high blow-by caused by either worn cylinders/pistons/rings or if you have...

    1955cc engine spec

Stock springs are to be used only with stock cam or a very very mild cam really close to stock. Anything that will rev more than 4.5k rpm’s will need more spring pressure. I use HD singles for up to 6k, from there it must be duals then CB650 or more if revving really high. Abel

    Labour of love

The joys of a classic car lol🤣🤣🤣 To be fair, sometimes i get upset when things like this happen, but after i accept the challenge and sort out the issue, the feeling of satisfaction is unbelievable😁😁 Just think about Ozzie’s experience with his mate in the pub; how would you get experiences...

    Engine compartment refurb

Yes, cellulose is really easy to paint and dries quickly. Finish can be really good too, that’s why i like it a lot😃👍 Abel

    Engine compartment refurb

Mike any particular reason you going for cellulose paint? I personally like them, but i thought nobody used them anymore lol😄 I found that if i don’t spray a very thin last coat to bring up the shine, the cellulose paint becomes quite dull and absorbs the oil/grease and stains a lot. Have you...

Type 1 or type 4 engine

A type 1 is much cheaper to build then a type4, so you could get a decent type 1 engine for way less money. Also much more choice when it comes to parts, like exhausts, etc. A good 1776cc can be built to have similar power and torque as a 2l type 4 very easily. I personally like the type 4 for...

Baby dells - dellorto frd 34b setup

Hi Mat My suggestion is if you haven’t bought them yet, to get either Weber 34 ICT’s or 40 IDF’s/DRLA’s. The problem with the 34 Dell’s is that they are not so common, so parts will be rare and expensive. Also there are practically no difference in performance compared to the Weber ICT, but...
