I did the valves this morning for the second time I ring the run in period of a new 1786 engine. A few were a bit loose this time but I also noticed marks on the rocker case as of the rocker arm for one cylinder has been hitting it. It’s also a little noisy on that side I think.

Worth knowing js that I had to change the pushrod seal for that same cylinder after the first run as it had split. I have checked that the pushrod is seating properly on the valve and it looks good. Perhaps the pushrod is not properly seated on the cam though?

Hitting the rocker cover could happen for many reasons, like valve seats that were cut too deep in the head for example, but normally would be due to high lift cams. What cam you using? Swivel foot adjusters?
