    Awning Recommendations?

We've been pleased the bluebird awning we've had for two years, good quality, no leaks and it actually fits in the bag it came out of too   . We have the smaller one which doubles up as a beer, barbecue store and dog kennel :D :D . With the club camping space at some shows...

    bloody cab doors again!

I see what you mean!!!!!. I bet there is a good chance the A post could be distorted, if it is, its probably a good idea to try and straighten it and sort the problem before even trying to attempt a front panel swop  . fitting the panel to the correctly aligned A post frame will not only...

    bloody cab doors again!

I've just fitted some replacement doors to my bus and one did exactly the same with the lock catch binding on the door post. I was daunted by this because there is only vertical adjustment on the hinges :( . In the end i had to take the door off and put a large adjustable spanner on the hinge...

    tire size

If you drop the rear by 1 spline 185 65 15 tyres will be fine and will provide similar gearing. If you drop the rear 2 splines the tyres will not fit. I have fitted the same tyres to the front but they bind slightly on full lock, so i'm hoping some 185 60 15 tyres will solve the problem

    Oil change findings!

From experience, the lumps are too big and are unlikely to be metallic, but the cork rocker cover gaskets have a tendency to break up and end up in the oil strainer, they may solidify with time, i now use the rubberised type of gaskets  . Change the oil/strainer and carry on regardless, go...

    POP TOP QUESTION

You did well there tofufi, i struggled to replace half the roof on my bus, fortunately the front half was ok, but would advise leaving the roof swap alone unless totally neccessary, especially if the project is to be undertaken outside like i had to  Merry christmas to all the earlybayers...

    POP TOP QUESTION

Those pop tops do turn up for sale now and again tho  so you might find a reasonable replacement. I know tin top busses are lighter and look nicer but its nice being able to get dressed in the morning and not bang you head on the roof after sampling the loopy juice. The hammocks on mine...

    POP TOP QUESTION

What is wrong with the pop top thats on the van at the moment??, i know you can get some repair/sealing kits for that type. If the rest of the guttering is ok then perhaps its worth patching that pop top up until you get the bus on the road and have a bit of fun in it first. A roof change plus...

    POP TOP QUESTION

I was wondering if the later devon roof cap would be an option too??, ok they might not be quite original but they are more watertight than the early one and are easier to come by. When i bought my first bus (74 caravette) it had a piece of plywood screwed over the missing original pop top, it...

    that tastes salty

My 68 had holes pressed into the chassis sections by the front wheel arches, hence this caused water to spray into the chassis and run to the lowest point by the front outriggers and cause havoc, after undertaking the repairs i then welded the pressed holes up too to stop this re-occuring

    How low will avis go?

3 weeks of swearing and lying on my back, but it was definatly worth it. Shame the front isn't as easy to lower as the back  . The front beam is surprisingly easy to remove it's just the fiddly things like trying to feed the torsion leaves back in and put the torsion arms back on. Mine...

    Rader Wheels on 71 Bay

Funny enough i,ve just fitted some radars to my van today  i bought them from Midland wheels at vanfest. In order for the wheels to fit my wide 5 rear hubs i had to fit some spacers which must be at least 10mm thick. The tyre/wheelarch clearance is tight but ok, not sure what offset...
