    Wandering lowered bay.

Forgot to say my brothers '69 drives ok on a narrowed beam and drop spindles, it wanders a bit but isn't too bad, on the other hand my '65 split that I've owned 15 years and done many thousands of miles in all round europe recently had fitted a 4" narrowed beam and drives badly compared to the...

    Wandering lowered bay.

I think it's a subjective thing, loads of my customers say their vans drive really well slammed and narrowed, it depends what your happy to put up with, in my opinion when you narrow and the ackerman angle changes they never drive the same as a standard van would, also car tyres whilst they work...

    Beetle steels on bus ?

I've compared the steel thickness on beetle wheels and it does look like slightly thinner metal is used on them, can't really say if they are any weaker though but i would suspect they are, plenty of people seem to get away with them on busses though :D

Not aircooled but does anyone have any experience with......

If your on a budget Mr Muscle does work but in my experience the proper kit does a better job and lasts a lot longer, believe me I have tried many different ways of doing it on my customers vehicles, also the way some youtube videos show putting it down the EGR pipe isn't as good as removing the...

Not aircooled but does anyone have any experience with......

Yes, that's the kit I use, it's pretty good but if you do it just take your time and don't rush, it needs time to be allowed to do it's job properly, it sounds like if the turbo is still quiet it may well cure the problems your having

Not aircooled but does anyone have any experience with......

I work on modern diesels all day long at my place so got pretty good experience of this engine, I'd say it's likely the VNT mechanism in the turbo has sooted up and the vanes are stuck in the high boost position causing it to overboost instead of regulating correctly, pretty common on these...

Alright mate, I put a post up on VZI as well, I'll take the wide five rear brake shoes for £10, I assume it's a set of 4 brake shoes not just the 2 shown in the picture, cheers

    Hard as Nails Westy

The front arches are not tubbed at the moment, the ride is fairly hard but not too bad considering how low it is, probably due to the dropped spindles, it only catches a bit with one person up front but when there are two at the front it rubs all the time, I think arch tubs are on the cards for...

    Hard as Nails Westy

Axle nut clearance was not a problem with either the wheel or the centre caps, tyre to arch clearance is very close though and would rub if it wasn't for the negative camber from the hefty lowering, clearance would probably be fine if a smaller tyre was used instead though, we are running...

    Hard as Nails Westy

He never has time to go on forums and sign up to them and not wishing to offend any of you but the bay is just a stop gap measure until his 21 window samba is ready, although I have to admit once hit with the lowering stick the bays can be just as cool as the splits. Splits are our thing though...

    master cylinder

The early dual circuit master cylinder will work fine with the CSP discs as they have more than enough capacity to operate disc brake calipers but if your going for new brakes then why not replace the old master cylinder with a new non servo 71-79 master cylinder while your at it for such a...

    front end?

Not sure a weedeater for a '57 van will fit a '68 van. I know the later split beams from about 64 onwards will fit as my brothers '69 bay has a cb performance beam fitted and that went on ok have a look in the gallery to see what it looks like with a narrowed beam, sorry I can't be of more help...
