    DRLA 40s on a 1600 twin port...

Has anyone experience of successfully setting up twin Dell 40s on an otherwise stock 1600 engine? I acquired a pair when collecting parts prior to getting our bus on the road a few years ago, and the restorer fitted them to the new (recon) engine but couldn't get them to run properly, so fitted...

    Wanted - Off-Side Hub Carrier

Mine appears to have worn so that it keeps trashing wheel bearings - anyone got one available?

    Simple leisure battery system.

Firstly thanks for reading. Having spent hours reading through the myriad threads on here on this subject, I can imagine you're sure there isn't a question that hasn't been asked (or answered). However... I'm planning on fitting a leisure battery, which will feed a secondary fusebox up front...

    Vdub Island Pics

Not my work but my better half's. Shots from the festival and the drive-out; by no means all are early Bay related, but they do give a flavour of what a relaxed and sunny time we all had.

    "Spare" hole in tinware.

Whilst poking around in the engine bay this morning I noticed that there is an extra hole to the left of the silver hose as below: So is this due to a) incorrect tinware, b) something having fallen off, or c) none of the above? In any case I assume that it could do with being blocked off?

    Another Indicator/Hazard problem, sorry!

Hi all. I’ve searched all the threads on hazards and indicators that I can find, and although they’ve helped in expanding my knowledge, I’ve not managed to sort my problem. The last 2 days have been spent trying to get sorted for the MOT, but with precious little progress. The indicators work...

    Poor running under load.

OK all, I'm after what I'm sure won't be the last bit of engine advice. Our engine is a recon TP1600 installed this summer, standard carb and single quiet pack. We've so far done about 250 miles of the running-in period, treating her nice and gently, generally on runs of up to 30 miles. On the...

    Westy roof spacers.

The rubber spacers that support the rear of the roofrack section; does anyone know where I can buy them? I'm sure something could be bodged from the doorstop dept at B&Q but wonder if there is an easier way?

    Cross-Channel Travel

The EBI thread, (fantastic pics btw, thank you to the snappers), has got me thinking about our forthcoming summer hols. Which is easier in a lowered bus; ferry or tunnel? My main concern is ground clearance on the ramps on and off, but any other top tips and handy hints gladly accepted. It's on...

    (Possibly) Wanted; 1600 Gearbox

Apparently the 'box that my bus arrived from the states with might be a bit graunchy. Has anyone got a 1600 gearbox going spare that they know is OK? It needs to be available now as hopefully the engine will be going back in at the end of the week; if I haven't got one by then I'll suck it and...

    Wanted, '69 Westy Cab Bunk

Like the title says. The bus has got the brackets fitted, and I have a seamstress* handy in case I need to get a new canvas run up, but I'm after a pair of poles. *There could be hell to pay if the other half starts browsing here in the near future... ;)

    1600 TP, Carb choices.

A quick question for those wise in the ways of the flat-4 force. Is it worth sticking a pair of DRLA 40s on a 1600 twin port, stock apart from a sports exhaust, or would the standard carb be a better choice? Aim is a bit more zip without utterly ruinous mpg; we've got a 2000 mile trip to France...

    Engine Choice

Hi all. As the new and v excited owner of a 69 Westy which at the moment has no engine, I'm wondering what to go for? I've tried the search facility but both "engine" and "choice" are a little too common to be much use, so sorry if this is a bit of an old chestnut or can of worms! I'm looking...
