Hi all
Wanted a bit more power for my tintop and been collecting bits for a while now but ive now bitten the bullet and im having a 1776 engine put together by Harry Harpics
Due to pick it up in a week or so.
Spec wise im using an old AS case that hadnt been apart before. thats been line bored and opened out for the 1776 pistons
Also have it tapped for full flow.
Having a engle 110 cam
The standard crank has been reground and balanced with the flywheel and front pulley and all the rods and pistons have been weight matched.
Head wise I am using a set of big valve heads off a mates old Stateside engine. These have had new valves and guides with three angle seats and all the ports cleaned and polished.

Im planning on using some original icts that have been rebuilt and matched by Eurocarb. They are jetted for standard 1.6 at the moment.

The only things left to sort is the oil filter / cooler system and oil breather

Also wondering if the standard jetting will work for running in until I get it to a rolling road to get it properly set up.

And thoughts on oil filter / cooler and carb jetting would be helpful

What size valves and what size vents?

Jetting: venturie size x 4 + 10%

I built a 1776 and started/ran it on the test bench on twin Kadrons that we're jetted for my 1641 until I got the correct jets, so I imagine you'll have no problems. Without any load everything started and revved just fine. I built mine with standard heads and an Engle 100 cam for what it's worth so it's not exactly the same spec but I doubt it will matter for initial running.

Thanks for that.
im not sure on the valve sizes but will find them out an drop Eurocarb an email to see what they recommend will be easier to swap jets before it goes together.

In regards to oil I'd run an external filter (not a filter pump) and make sure the pump is blueprinted (ie the ports match up neatly to the 'case). You shouldn't need a cooler over stock, but could add one later if needs be. Personally, I'd probably only add a breather for a bit of extra bling. Sounds like a solid build 8)

Ok so I finally found time to go and get my engine from Harry Harpics,
The spec is as follows
As case align bored with standard crank opened out to take 90.5 mahle forged barrells and pistons.
Flywheel refaced and dynamicly balanced with the crank and front pulley.
Rods and pistons balanced.
Large valve heads polished and ported with 40mm inlet and 35.5 exhaust stainless valves three angled seats, heavy duty springs, bolt up rocker shafts with swivel feet .
Web 111 cam with large feet followers.
Scat wide mouth push rod tubes.
HD oil pump with full flow take off.

Cant wait to get this in and running, going to take the old engine out tomorrow weather permitting.

Going to run with Webber Icts to start with,

Any thoughts on the jetting.

Paul at Harpics has suggested 60 idle, 135 main, 180 air corrector. As a starting point

Im going to order some jets tomorrow

1) Air corrector size 160 underneath Is the emulsion tube. On the joint.
2) Pump exhaust size 40. The shiney lower fitting
3) The main jet size 145. In the centre of the bowl.

When you order ask the guys at Eurocarb if that's who your using! I spoke to Matt Cooper I think... I got 34ict on my 1776. Let me know how you get on...Ben ;)
