hi guys,
my name is Jérôme
i live in france
and i was looking for a bus since a long time .
i found this 1969 microbus deluxe in france.
i have some work on it but it drives good and is ok to drive me and family (4 kids and wife) on holidays
i'll try to show you my work on it
to start here are some photo of when i bought it

hi,
a bit more infos on my bus .
it comes from the states , i think somebody on a french holiday.
they may have broken the engine so let it for destruction in france.
the guy who sold me the bus put a 2 l type 4 (CU) engine inside ...
so i'm not sure for the cooling of engine ! because it's not correctly fitted in :(
i also have a problem with my gear box : 4 th gear doesn't want to stay locked, so it's a bit hard for a road trip !!!

so for now, engine and gear box are down and i'm waiting for some seals to put it back !

am i the only bus running with a type 4 CU ?
i feel strange with it ?
i m wondering if i have to look for a 1600 (or may be 1776 or 1835)

any one runs with this engine ?

is it ok to use ?

or may be i have an original bus and i will live like this ?

hi guys,
some news from my french bus :
gear box is back inside,
i have to install oil pressure and temp sensors and i expect my engine will be back inside on saturday .
today i found some sprintstar rims,
hope some photos with new rims will come soon.

do you know if wheels 5*205 with ET 20 are ok for a bus or do i have to buy some wheel spacers ?
for now i drive on original height, i'm wondering if i get it lowered or not ?

what is the easiest and more comfortable solution to lower it ?

thanks for your help .

Nice bus and garage!

Nice to here how old van and big family fits together :) Our family is only 3 kids.
I will drive with typ4 engine with ours westy, when work is finished. But for me it is easier fit because its crossover.
How it running with stock CU engine?

Keep working!!

any body is interested about more details of my bus ?
i don't mind i'll give you more details !!!

i had to drink beers to make the job !!!

and here is a picture of the bus with fresh paint on the bumpers .... much better !

next job will be to put some fresh paint ont the sides ...

hi guys ,
i'm back for some news of my 69' deluxe

i installed a Porsche 924 Tachometer :p

and then installed some curtains made with an old Simpson duvet cover and my new rims and tyres

it's still bit high !!!
i'm starting to think about lowering it !!!

now ready for our first road trip

my wife and me planned our first road trip to go and buy a surfboard in Nantes, and then go to the beach to try it .

the trip started on friday, my wife took the bus to go to restaurant with friends ...

she called me to say she had a problem with the bus , and when i came i found the right driveshaft hanging down

so the trip started in the garage of a friend to fix that before the start !

after this work the trip could start .
i took some tools (just in case) and we started to drive to angers .

we stopped for a sleep near the Loire

then we went ton Nantes to a nice surf shop ..
We drove to Pornic for a beer and a visit of the harbor

and we eventually ended to the beach for a surf session :

after a small night i went to water : AWESOME waves :p

and no problem with the bus during all the trip ! :p

i helped an english couple with a diesel transporter :? ; wife pregnant , they had a problem with their batterie ...
so just plugged the batteries together and they re started !

very nice trip,
waiting for next one

It looks so cool...I wonder how it drives with tha big enginE, and I am also curious about tge type of gearbox you fittedp.but I would definitely lower it now that you fitted those sprintstars ;-)
I admire people with big families that can also find the time to enjoy such a hobby and work intheir buses!

thanks for your message.
the bus drives really well with that engine.
about 3000 rpm for 55 mph
oil temp between 90 and 100 (except yesterday it was 110 but the weather outside was really hot - about 35)
my only worry is for the oil pressure, which is always between 1 and 1.5 when i'm driving (with temp OK)

i wonder if it comes from my oil (bad qalit) or from the sensor (i put it at the end of a brake flexible)

see you
