The off side rear tyre is a very tight squeeze, so tight infact that its rubbing the arch

Near side rear tyre is having none of it grrrr, had to stick the steels back on for now

Got too dark to take a decent photo and i was being eaten alive by Nats and i am massivly alergic to the buggers.

still, glad it was nats biting me and not this bad boy that i found in the garage

Was nice to see a stag beetle, not seen one for years

I will go and get the rear tyres changes for some 175's instead of 185's and hopefuly that will give me at least a chance of getting the rear wheels on.
Looking at the rear of the bus the off side rear wheel looks to have camper in at the top and the near side rear is the oposite, very strange, will investigate this before changing the tyres

The van is going up to Derby so that slamwerks can set up the front end and notch the chassis

Well after struggling with the 185's i went for 165R15's and the wheels still would not fit.

So its is currently sitting with its steels on the rear until this can be sussed out.

So yesterday i put it on a trailer and towed it up to Derby for chassis notches and to get the front end all set up

Couple of shots of how it was sitting before the journey, i have to say i was a little unsure of how low this thing was when i first fitted the beam but i'm loving the look now, shouldnt get altitude sickness now its not at standard height lol

This is where i took it......

And this is how i took it there

After a nightmare getting it on the trailer then having a tyre blow out on the trailer, the journey up north was problem free :)

What i found when i got there

Teds bug is cool as feck

Would like to thank Guy and Ted for letting me take the bus there even though they are too busy to work on it for a week or so, top lads......

Thank you to Anton (outlaw flat4) for the lone of the trailer

And also thank you to my mate Milton for lending me the T4 to tow it with :)

Next update will hopefully be a suspension sorted and have the rear end sorted too, should be sporting all four BRM's :)

Looking good fella, cant wait to see the Slamworks gang do there magic on this one.

Anton is a top bloke, I know him since school

Thanks dude, can't wait to see what the boys do with it, hopefully the rear wheels will fit otherwise i will have to rethink the whole BRM's thing......

Heard back from SW, the front end is sorted and the notches are done so yay, problem is the bloody rear wheels are still not fitting.
Think i'm either going to have to try some adjustable spring plates and do away with the horse shoe plates to try and get a little negative camber OR think of some different wheels.

Iv seen MWS BRM's on loads of early busses with a decent size tyre but not FLAT4 ones.

I can't be the only one to be having this much grief fitting rear wheels.........

Picking the van back up late next week so will have some pics of the front end work.

Til then........

Unfortunately I had the same problem with BRMs, the offset is wrong for lowered bays.
Bus looks good though. :)

Thanks mate

So wheel choice then, what did you go for?

I've got a set of type 3 15" steels on at the moment, they're slightly more tucked in than bus steels.

steels will be no good for me, with the beam so narrow it will look like a three wheeler with steels on lol

Can you not get the wheels machined a few mill :?:

Looks lovely how its sat, the wheels look really good , well the fronts anyway :D ;)

Not much of an update but i got the van back from slamwerks, the notches are spot on and the front end is pretty much set up now apart from tracking.

Still need to sort out the rear as my wheels are being a pain in the rear with their silly +5 offet, looking in to a set of transporterhaus adjustable spring plates, maybe a little camber will get the rear wheels to sit right.

Got the spring plates from creative in the end, very well built and hopefully they will solve my rear end problem

f39e6252.jpg

Hoping to fit these in the next few days, if the BRM's fit then it will be on to replacing all the hard brake lines

Finally, THE WHEELS FIT :D

Old arms off

Forgot to take photos of the spring plates fitted, will do that when i take the wheels off again

First attempt at lowering the jack......

Thats a little too much stance for my liking.....Down another spline

Very happy with this look now, the best thing is i didn't even have to take the wheels off to drop it another spline and took about 5 minutes.

Soooo glad that the wheels fit now, wish i had gone for adjustable spring plates in the first place but you live and learn....Who wants to buy some horseshoe plates???

Its now time to put some more windows in and fit new brake pipes, Til then.....

Windows going in

Really starting to take shape now and with the pop top on i can see what the van will look like when i finally finish it.

Think i will have a bash at fitting up the pop top next.

Here's a reminder of what the van looked like when i got it.....

The dash came out ok considering it was a rattle can in a dusty garage.

Also stripped down the roof bellows support frame, not sure what to paint it with yet

Stripped down the bunk frames, will be sorting these next time i get some spare time

Now its back to work for 8 days straight and only got 1 rest day before another 8 days so its back on hold for now.
