Hi Everyone,

I'v been a member of this site for a while now so thought it was time to upload some pictures of my bus resto. She was finished last year but has been undercover over winter due to work commitments and resurfaced last weekend.

I'v done minis and other classic cars in the past but this was a bit different - bigger for a start!

We bought it blind off e-bay and had her shipped up from Southampton. Luckily she was in pretty good condition but as we wanted to do a full rebuild it didn't matter too much anyway. We were after a reliable (ish) camper for the whole family to enjoy and I'm happy to say thats just what we have ended up with.

This is what she looked like during the early stages of restoration. Making a nice mess of my parent's back garden.

Good runner despite the looks, just a few fuelling problems.

Looking better after a service, clean up and new set of twin carbs.

Then followed many, many hours of prep in readiness for painting.

It all sounds so simple when you can show it in one short sentence and a picture! It really wasn't!

Interior from Van Wurks - very pleased with it, thanks Nick.

One of the many light looms.

My mum made the leather seats using the old covers as a template and 4 very expensive Connolly hides! I only wish she had fitted them too because they were a bugger to fit! Smell nice though :D and look the business.

New horse-hair padding, memory foam and lots of wadding later.

Fabulous steering wheel and handbrake handle from MCJ Products - really good quality, would highly recommend.

Matching rock and roll bed and buddy seat. Custom fabric blinds to match the pop top, courtesy of my mum again - cheers mum.

I got these wheels off e-bay to replace the empi alloys (the wife hated them) and had them sand blasted. Not quite sure what they are originally off though because they didnt have spring clips for the hub-caps. If anybody has any idea please let me know.

So there she is. I'm Steve, my wife is called Kerry. We have 2 young girls; Lilly and Daisy and a dog called Red.

We now also have a camper called Mouse. (as well as 2 classic minis called Druum and Blue) Hope to see some of you around this year.

Gorgeous bus, love the colour, the stripes and the name! Happy trails ;)

Nice dormobile, very nice.... you obviously have a lot more money than me lol

Thanks mate, but not really. Just fortunate that I was able to do the work myself. I did all the welding, bodywork and the respray (in a tent on the garden!). My Dad and I did the mechanics and the electrics and my mum made all the soft furnishings. Admittedly we splashed out on the interior, pop top and the leather but fitting it all myself saved a fortune. :)

Lovely bus Steve, I've just got a 1971 Mexican import so if I can get it half as nice as yours ill be pleased.

Steve
