Yep, the Danbury is one of the most versatile conversions.
In the 16 or so years we had ours it was a school bus, it was also the family business transport. In its camper mode it took us round Scandinavia and other countries, sometimes sleeping upto six of us inside it! It was also a pop-corn stall at my school fete! I remember spending a very hot August Saturday back in the 1970s cooking pop-corn on the little flip-up cooker. The van stank of cooking oil for many weeks afterwards!
When I was old enough to drive it became my daily transport in the family business. I carried absolutely everything in it from cookers, fridges, 3 piece suites, window frames and sheets of glass, workmen, garden waste and building materials and cement mixers such as Halfpint_fighter mentions.
I've put some photos up of our van. Excuse the poor quality of the old scanned pics! I desparately wanted my dad to keep the van, as I would love to have restored it back to original condition. The only changes my dad made was to take out the removable sink and mount the tap on the plywood upright, as can be seen in the interior photo. Also he had speakers put in the back on the top locker, so that when we were on holiday when we were little, we could listen to stories on cassette, but my parents could turn the front speakers off if they wanted to!
The first thing the guy who bought the van did was to paint all the plywood and side trim panels a dark blue colour, and he removed the original front seats and fitted cortina seats. Still, he loved the bus and that was the main thing. :D
