Anyone up for sharing them?
Im just interested to see how many real early ones are about.

Theres one in a recent VW Camper and Commercial thats dated Oct 06 67, and theres a light grey Westy that features in the Volksworld 'How To's' that is of the same month.

Mine is 238055680 So, the 55,680th bay to be built.
Man they were knocking them out fast!

Just seen one which was

mine is 228087085, anyone help me with this one no idea what month it was produced

(I would guess December 1967.) On reflection its more Jan/Feb 68.

Im guessing here, but the day and month will be on the VIN.

228084078 on a 68 f

Also Dec 67, I think .. maybe either could be Jan 68. If you check the VIN plates and post here everything you see, I can tell.

whats that i have heard about you get in touch with volkswagen and if u ask them they will give you the day your bus was produced and other details on a certificate through the post 4 free???

anyone know?

theres a link thru samba website - it explains it all here -

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=398

its not free tho.

send in the chassis number from your vin plate -

and they send you this (after about 4 weeks) -

not sure how accurate it is tho.
according to my vin plate the bus was built 31/08/1968
but according to vw wolfsburg was built 22/09/1967

also none of the m code options listed are traceable on the bus - however
the panels mentioned may have been replaced (and probably have!).

or i think u can contact vw uk who will do a similar thing in letter form - dont know if they charge.

after re reading samba - i think the cert is correct - my bus bus was in fact built in 67 - but carries the 68 model number on the vin plate.

i had assumed an 8 indicated build year not model year !

dumbass.

Yes, its that date on the top lhs that dates it.

Going on mine being two months later than yours, it seems they were building about 20k a month?

I have the proforma from the VAG UK to get a birth cert, anyone can email via my profile if they want a copy. Print it off, fill it in, send it away, pay the £30 bill and get a date letter. Not as detailed as the German one however.

Thats a pretty early one - certainly the earliest double cab on the register so far ....

and what a double cab!!!

Welcome to the forum dude, great van 8) 8)
