Is the date stamped on the plate the actual build date or the proposed bulid date :?:

M plate code 20D indicates build date 20 December '68

Must have been shipped off to Sidmouth Devon sometime soon after that to be converted to a Caravette, then driven or transported all the way up to Elgin, north Scotland where she was registered March 69 by local VW dealer.
