I've just realised I haven't put my build thread on EB. This is copyed from my blog.

Hey people. Been wanting to start this for ages, but I havent had a vehicle to write about.

Today I purchased 1970 Vw t2 Early Bay in a shitty blue/light sick blue. Its done 98,000 miles in sunny and dry Florida and has been imported with in the last couple of months. A Friend of mine (Lee cheers bud) found out it was for sale. The Van has an early sunroof/poptop which could be a quite an addition.

Just got in from a full days work on the van. Todays mission was quite simple. STRIP IT.

Not bad for being 42 years old. Its solid inside and out.

Once i cleaned out the van. I started sorting the paint out. Im sanding back the navy blue to expose the light blue. Once i have a nice open space of light blue im getting it signed by hand.

_MG_9040.jpg

In between sanding i removed all the wood that had been self tapped into the roof.

Update time

On Thursday I moved the van back to my yard to start preping the inside for paint and any welding work.

IMG_2141.JPG

I started by sandblasting the floor and round the windows, then got my angle grinder out with a wire brush to prep the surface for some etch primer.

Update time again.

Jobs now completed:

Wiring 90% finished
Air filter to carb
Painted new exhaust

Ive been working on the bus like mad this week. The wiring loom is in and I've got 90% of the bits working. Working enough for an MOT. Ive bonded with loom with fabric tape up to and from the fusebox. Ive got my dremel out and cleaned the fuse box to accept my new connectors.

IMG_2279.JPG

Next up was the exhaust, got my wire brush/drill/angle grinder on it. Then some heatpaint.

I have also replaced all the dash lamps with ultra bright white LEDS. Its not the tidiest job but its all working and a lot better than before.

IMG_2280.JPG

Ive put the oil bath air filter back on with a new pipe. Working a treat now.

And this is how i left it today. Next up is welding.
