I would have been able to give you compression numbers except when changing the sparkplugs, one of the sparkplug bores stripped. So I have to pull the engine out next and pull off the head to fix it.

In the meantime I threw the old wheels and tires from my A4 on the camper so I can at least move it around. It's probably going to swap places in the side yard with the deluxe after I pull the engine. The wheels don't fit because of the hubcentric bore in the center. I had to pull off the dustcaps up front to fit them on and they're still not flush with the rotor but it's good enough to push around the yard. I won't be driving it with these on there. Ride height looks kinda goofy to me.

My wife looked at it and said now that it has air in the tires it's too high and it needs to be lowered. Aw... when she says things like that I know I picked the right one.

So... tomorrow is the Sacramento Bug O Rama! I'm takin' the camera so stay tuned for more show photos...

MMMkay here's what the show was like, getting it started with what appears to be an impromptu Calendar shoot next to the staging lane for the drags, HOLLLLAAAAAA

awesome pics of bor #65 - it was a cool show very hot

I arrived on Sat morn around 11 to watch the testing and qualifying and also did sunday from 9am! The racing sucked me in so didn't get around the swaps when it was maxed out, but got around 400 pics and vids..........

met Brian Watts and Greg from GregsVW's [we actually hung out in Greg's pits!]

Glad you could make it and had a good time! That show is mostly for the hardcore, since there is no shade and it's all dusty fields or asphalt. My wife won't go to that one anymore.

I'm glad you posted something to my thread too- sometimes I get the feeling it's just me and Barkafer going back and forth on this thread

8) Electric Ghia? wos all that about? Half the joy of owning these machines is hearing that sweet, sweet engine note comin from the rear end!

Yes that may be, but if you want to roll electric, it sure is better looking than a Nissan Leaf!

Here's the rest of the pics from the show- we were leaving so I was just shooting as we walked out...

brilliant pics spent lunch looking through them all, one show id definitely love to hit if im over.

it was amazing - it was a case of not having enough time and I was there 2 days! Sun is the show day. I didn't get to see the swaps at all which is a shame as it was very big this year according to the regulars.
there was a fantastic number of race cars there, the for sale area was small I thought and there were very few nice early bays around that I saw!

I'd go again but the Classic in Socal, is probably the best value for money as it's a week full of mini shows and cruises [DKP for eg!], WCM have an open day and there's the OCTO bus show on the Sat, Orange County is basically full of VW's for a week!

Just wasted 20 minutes at work looking at your pictures

Wow - would I like to be able to attend something like that - so much to see ;)

Cheers dude 8)

I'm glad you guys are enjoying the pics! Now get back to work!

Hey LEEP

Can you post some pix of your aircon stuff?
Did you get an overhead blower unit?

thanks!

Sure Betsybug, I haven't unpacked it since it was shipped to me- I'm afraid to try to put it all back in boxes to store until I tackle that project. It is an underdash unit, not an overhead blower. I'll open up the boxes and get a few pics at some point in the next week or so.

Yes, I have heard that the Classic is "the ****", pretty much what you described, all VWs for a whole week, plus the awesome SoCal weather. I've never been to that show but maybe when the bus is ready we'll take the whole famn damily down there for that event.
