Went to the small but very cool and family oriented Angel's Camp Show yesterday.

This little racer was awesome! John Milner is the legendary owner of the yellow deuce hot rod in American Graffiti. I'm not sure if the lettering is just a tribute or if the driver is really a dude named John Milner or what.

I met the owner of this bus, he was a pretty cool cat. He made his own horseshoe plates for the rear of his bus, and up front he's got wagenswest spindles and a stock width adjustable beam. He used bug adjusters and said they slip sometimes  !

He also said he checked out my deluxe right before I bought it. He tried to buy just the side step. Obviously he didn't have any trouble finding another one! He was selling his extra step for $75.

Like I said, it was a very family oriented show.

I kept it cool with buying stuff by only picking up an interior cargo door handle repop, some sun visor clips, a vintage child's bicycle seat which I think I'll put on my trike, and this shirt for my sister.

Thanks Chris.

I got my yearly bonus so I ordered my horsehair padding from Wolfsburg west, plus clips for the emblem up front and the script at the rear of the bus. I bought another floor jack so I can pull the engine and tranny from the camper.

I also picked up some vehicle dollies for $30 a pair. It was a coupon that was limited to one set of two dollies so I'll have to find another coupon and go get another pair. These things are normally $90 a pair! It's going to be awesome to be able to move my bug around the garage on casters instead of backing it out and back in and so forth.

Next up: engine and transmission swap!

One of my buddies and I took our kiddos to BusFest in Vallejo, CA yesterday. Neither of us were looking to buy anything but he ended up with some Old School 16" Porsche pattern BBS style mesh wheels for his bug and I bought a full length rack for my bus  !

I'll be posting up pictures shortly!

I see those dollies are being put to good use! Don't get oil on that nice clean concrete drive
When are you putting the motor in the Deeluxe?

Heck yeah, those dollies worked out great! Too late about oil on the driveway, there's spots all over, but no big pools or anything like that. I use a biodegradable degreaser every once in a while to clean it up.

I did have some old fuel lines crack and spill all over the driveway when pulling the engine, but it was quick to evaporate in the dry heat.

Okay as promised here are the pics from Busfest!

I bought the rack off of this green bus. The "nice rack" jokes were relentless. Wait 'till you see how we got it home!

Which resulted in this:

I'm pretty sure we drew the Cop's attention because of the crazy rack on the roof but he let us go with a fix-it ticket for having window tint on the front side windows.

Overall it was a fun show! Hopefully next year I'll be able to take my Deluxe.
