Hi all, quick question. Do I have to strip the rear drum & remove the axle nut to replace the handbrake cable or can it be fitted from the back?
Adjusted the brakes the other day & it stops brilliantly but noticed the nearside cable had started to fray :( MOT time soon

Do you have detachable drums, if so then it's just a case of remove the drum and detach the cable from the brake shoe and out it pulls. If you have the solid drum (Wide 5) then you will have to undo the hub nut and remove the drum that way. Either way, the drum has to come off. Use plenty of grease when fitting the new cable through the conduit and balance your hand brake when finished, MOT failure if the brake balance is out.

Have later wheel pattern so need need to touch that centre nut then
Cheers advice appreciated.

Replaced the cable today, piece of cake only trouble was getting the old cable out of the backplate. Sprayed with WD40 & a gentle tap with the hammer & that sorted it. Now onto the electrical problems, not as easy to rectify :?
