Hiya,

Forgot to renew my AA so I rang up today to sort it. The fella on the phone said "oh yes Sir, we renewed it on the 13th of March at £108 using the credit card details you used last year" This is the second time they have done this to me! after the first time I told them I did not want it automatically renewing as I would sort it my self.

Anyway, The thing that Pi**es me off the most is that if I renew the cover I need online, it's 69 quid, but if they do it automatically its 39 quid more expensive!!!! What a rip off!!!!!

After a call to customer services they eventually backed down and refunded the difference.

If yours is ready for renewal, bear the above in mind.

Chris. :)

Ive been caught out by this before now,.....i have been a member for about 12 years and my membership lapsed by one day, i asked them to renew and they said i would have to re join and wipe out my 12 year history of membership, this made me suspicious, i dont gain anything (no claims etc) so dont know why he decided thats what had to happen.....strange?, he wouldnt back down either?? :x ..........so i decided id take my business elsewhere ( on recommendation from the money saving expert website).....and after telling the very nice man at the aa where he could shove his attitude,.....got a much cheaper deal....but then she went through the terms and conditions and the new company didnt cover vans!!!!!! my work van or the camper
Guess whos now back with the AA

..................my names kev and im an idiot

My renewal came through for the AA, so had a quick look how much it would be to go to the RAC and it was about £40 cheaper. So phoned up the AA and they matched the RAC price. Jobs a good 'un.
The following day my wife (who own a new fiesta) got a letter through from Ford offering her dual membership with the AA for her and me for even less. Cue phone call from me to cancel my AA membership!

RAC all the way for me...."no sticks, no stems, no seeds, ooooooweeeeee!"

looks like the AA are going to be on strike for a while now on top of it all.

Have you looked at getting your breakdown cover with your insurance? Most of the van specialist now offer than option. Our insurance with breakdown cover is £158 on a crossover

ADAC - ADAC - ADAC, ;)

Just a pain to join as all in german. but dig deep enough and the english version is there.

another vote for RAC when me landy broke in dover they gave me the choice of get it sorted there or get taken home, so said sort it there, sorted me out with accomidation (was like a travel lodge place) included breakfast, plus all the extra's, transport from the side of the road to the accomidation, and transport once truck was fixed 20miles to the garage, and all done ready drive home £100 less for having landy fixed but everything else was included in the break down cover, plus your renewal goes down if you dont use them.

RAC for me too.
vowed never to go with AA after they left me stranded on the slip road, with a new born baby and £200 of food shopping in the car, because they wanted 2 road names...couldnt be no clearer where i was stuck.
ie slip road of bury west, heading toward newmarket...the bint hung up on me, when she could hear my ex going balistic in back ground, because she was insistant on 2 road names ffs... ended up getting a taxi from the slip road to go get my car to tow :x
RAC never had a prob at all, and my boyfriend got his moneys worth with the integrale the other year
