Bugger MOT FAILURE
all stemming from bus being too low, rear gaitors split were they come into contact with the rear chassis which looks like its been notched but not enough, also a strange set up at the back where it looks like a big slab of steel plate has been welded in ( are these "horseshoe plates") rear shocks have worn where they clash with the body work too, offside outer sill needs welding up front the flexy brake lines are too long and foul on the rod ends its a brand new disc set up with wilwood calipers (are they meant to have 4 bleed nipples per caliper) its running 195/45/15 up front but these rub on the upper arch. Lots of light issues but these are minor ,im just abit annoyed that I bought the bus from the states ( and payed top dollar) and though it was all it was discribed as i.e rust free never welded ect ,ect, .I know these failures are not insumountable and it will pass next time anyway enough moaning its still a nice looking bus, what shocks are recomended for the rear and what ride height is accepted as useable , cheers

That's gutting, know how you feel as I bought a "rust free never welded" bus from a place in Holland, turned out that it's had both rear corners replaced, filler in the rear arch and needs work on the floor in the front and the windscreen - it had also caught fire and at some point been cut about to run a porsche engine  , I assume I didn't ask the "right" questions when asking for more info/history!

As with you though, all can be overcome just a bit gutting when it's sprung on you - wouldn't swap it for the world now :)

Hi and welcome to earlybay. Sounds like you have a nice bus that just needs some fettling to make it great. As far as how low, as long as you have the travel/clearance so that things are not rubbing its acceptable. At the end of the day the guy testing it is making sure your safe and covering his own back.

Mine is only down 3.5" at the front and on the whole works well but I can still ground the beam end plates on the ground in certain conditions. Can you perhaps raise it for the mot and then think about any changes to make it work a bit lower again later? Rear shocks depends on whats happened at the back and how low it is. For a mild drop the standard shocks are fine, lower you can use front shocks. The horses shoe plates are a bolt on lowering device that sits at the spring plate/hub area on the rear, is that what you have? Perhaps you can get some picures up so we can see you bus and set up?
