Not only were Ballbag's ball joints fitted incorrectly (by a ahem reputable company) but this is what hes been riding on, under the apprehension he had adjusters fitted to his beam......

causing the T2d boys a bit of last minute hassle in the bargain.....

What does the beam look like? Did that plate fit into a recess?

Those plates fitted over a cut in the beam......

Basically slotted the aperture turn the leaves and tighten the lock nut again no adjustment.... all or nothing.....

The T2d boys sorted him out in the morning kindly fitting some adjusters 8)

I've heard of people doing this on the cheap at home...... but a garage doing it as part of the repertoire  and then pressing the ball joints in wrongly

makes me sick and i see it all the time.
this weeks bodge was a late bay beam on a 67 split, top bolts line up, bottom ones dont so lets just pigeon **** a bit of weld on there!
some garages need shutting down i tell ya

ps araon cheers for the kind words you've been saying about my work, its been noted and i owe you a beer fella ;)

business is ticking over slowly, but its all or nothing most of the time!
i really am shocked at some of the utter sh*te that turns up, poor workmanship, dangerous mods and just idiocy, just because we drive old modified vehicles doesnt mean they shouldnt be above and beyond MOT standards :!:

regarding the twin slider... i finally started to lay some paint today, hoorah!

I must admit I thought the time for shoddy crappy mods and workmanship had passed (almost anything went in the 80s  ), especially when you look at the price of some of this work and the cost of busses these days....

sadly if theres money to be made someone is always gonna make that quick buck, it amazes me how many people reallly dont know what they are doing yet still charge for shoddy sub standard work. not only couldnt i sleep at night if my work wasnt spot on but id get lynched at show.
lets hope the credit crunch sorts the wheat from the chaff ;)

The credit crunch is more likely to get the chaff surfacing again, easy money for quick in out jobs and everyones after a bargain....

I just saved my mate a **** load of cash after getting a ***** load of waffle from some RAC mechanic  I seem to be spending more time on his landcrab than my bay

SK is a top mechanic boys and girls, I wouldn't give my bus to anyone else...... ;)

I trust him completely to do what he says he will do, and do it properly. I drive my bus all over the place with my kids in it and I want it be safe, as well as getting me there, and back....

And he's right, just because we drive old vehicles then we shouldn't have to 'accept' that they don't deserve to be treated properly and with respect. If anything given the fact that they have to be driven with care and understanding, i'e, no power steering, super posh brakes, electronic this and that  then there is even more of a reason to make sure that they are in tip top condition.

Getting your bus through a proper MOT is something you should be proud of, knowing that your bus is properly safe and sound.

Believe me I've had my fair share of dodgy MOT buses (eh, Chris....??  ;) ) and it ain't funny...............

Do it once, do it right.

Soapbox going back in the cupboard now......

Carole ;)

Good idea SK we often hear of the horrors out there, wish I had a digi camera when I had my 1303s not that was a horror, the 74 bay wasnt much better (mind you a sweet 2ltr)......

T2d had already fitted the new adjusters when I got there I'd love to have seen the actual beam just to get the full pic....
