OK anyone considering applying waxoyl with a paint brush, dont! I have given one area 3 coats and the brush just pushes the waxoyl around. Tried different types of brushes and am now giving up on this approach and looking to buy an air compressor and air gun to sprasy it on.

One question about cleaning the air gun after use, do you just soak it in white spirit to clean the waxoyl off?

Was thinking of getting this kit, do you think it will be able to handle the waxoyl?

 I know exactly what you mean, it is annoying. One job will now turn into several jobs and more tools required! :msn4:

I would guess you could run some White Sprit through it until clear? :?:

Don't forget to Goggle and Mask up though :character0036:

Not sure, wait to find out if anyone else knows.

As another option for you, what about:

Thanks cunning plan, I think I am going to go with the compressor option. Just working out if the compressor I listed above is the right one?

I use spray cans of black wax-oyl with under seal from Halfords. Not the cheapest solution, but covers really well and easily available. Cheaper than a compressor!

2-3 coats of red-oxide primer, prior, on bare metal. Sika-Flex EBT on any seam or joins etc.

Works well.

The rejel stuff is dinitrol but with there own label on, a slightly older formula according to the bloke at rejel!

Good, don't forget pictures! :party0021:

Ha, cue a camera/phone covered in waxoyl!

Get plenty of protection on yourself when doing it. Gloves, long sleeves and a hat.

Also worth using Sika-flex in any joins that need further protection prior to spraying. Screw fix do it.

Well I used the compressor this evening, wow, what a difference. Took no time at all to complete and I am well impressed with the finish. I didn't even get too covered in waxoyl!!! Right, now I just need to start stripping the rest of the old waxoyl off so I can complete the rest of it :)

Your compressor did that??!!

That looks a professional job! Well done chap! :party0021:

So that was Black Waxoil and a compressor?

Yes, I used the spray gun that came with the compressor, heated up the waxoyl and it gave a nice fine finish. Well pleased with the finish. Would totally recommend the compressor. Added a few more pictures to my "before" and "after" album. Right, just got to do the rest of the underneath now!
