I collected my engine tinware and firewall from the powder coaters last night... OMG! they're nice! pics to follow! :D

Ever thought of powder coating your dash top semi gloss black. A friend of mine has his done whenever he builds a bus and they look beauty. Just a thought to keep the bad paint reactions away. Still such a cool bus.

Yeah, in hindsight that would have been good, I painted the dash in-situ, to powder coat I would have had to have taken it out.... It's all good now, I'm very pleased with the end result, it's just the games I had along the way!!!

Any more updates for us?

Progress over the last few weeks has been slow but steady.. the bodywork is still being detailed, the engine bay is still being stripped back to bare metal (not 100%, just the bits that had some random black stuff - looked like underseal(?) - sprayed in there..).. both these jobs are nearing completion...

The long block components are going to Stateside this friday to be cleaned, tapped for full flow and built up for me... I was going to build the engine myself, but for several reasons I have opted to get an expert on the job...

I've got so many bits n bobs to bolt on now it's untrue! All will be revealed in time....

Here's a pic of the engine bay that I took last night...

It's not finished and ready for paint yet.. STILL got yet more work to do on it.....

This is how it started...

The red bay in this picture belongs to Mark (Howling Wolf!) Lewis... one of only 2 known Early Bay Westfalia Turret tops around! (This one if From Norway)

And now tucked up in my garage at home...

So, I've decided to follow many great wise men and go down the King & Link Pin Beam route..

This beam was very very kindly donated to my project by Jon (aka Faux). It's a pre-64 bea, with Bakelite bushes..

I have just had it sand blasted to clean it up, I am so so pleased with what I found, this beam is in A1 condition under all the grime... :D

I know plan to fit TransporterHaus, '63 only dropped spindles, beam adjusters, and give it a like of 'Edd China Special' satin black!

Not much to report really, just a bit of cosmetic rebuilding to keep things interesting... The mechanical work can get tedious, especially when you can't actually see it!!

Today, I redressed internally and externally the drivers door and re attached the reflectors on the near side...

Offered up the louvred windows this evening.. They need cleaning and polishing and the roof lining fitting before I screw them in properly! I just wanted to have a look-see!

Oh, and the louvred window has been removed too.. I've decided to go for solid windows instead for the time being...
