Just watched the new BBC series of Coast which featured the Isle of Man.

I went there for a meeting years ago but is it somewhere you would take your bus?

I've not but I do plan going next year as I live on the Wirral and its only a short ferry ride away

Ummm...

Some research required (pubs & campsites).

Might have a look at the show calendar and try and combine with something up that way... I'm thinking maybe Bus Types or Camper Jam.

I've been there a few times for the TT and always planed to go back with the bus but sadly not yet. There is beautiful countryside, mountains etc, it's steeped in history and the people are friendly. Not sure how many campsites there are and the ferry can be expensive though but defo worth considering

Used to live there. The ferry trip across in expensive - steam packet company, but once you are on the island it is very nice. Kinda like putting all of the best parts if the UK, scenery wise, into one small area. There is a nice place to camp in sulby, a field just opposite the pub that lies other side of the sulby straight.

Glen Maye also has an awesome pub for summer afternoons. If you like Mountain biking or road cycling then pack the bikes too as there is fantastic riding there. Think my bicycles got more mileage than my car while I was there.

Their is a local VW group over there and they can give you some up to date campsite listing and perhaps host you.

Enjoy, well worth a trip

Hello

Someone called Sean who I guess is a member here, emailed me ages ago about this thread, but due to me messing up my email accounts, the emails were going to me hotmail account which I never check so I've only just got the message.

I'm a member of the Isle of Man VDub Club, and I'm happy to report there is a thriving VW community over here. And for the last four years we have been holding a mini VW Festival called Circle Yer Wagens. The website for which is http://www.circleyerwagens.com/ the good thing about the festival for visitor is that we negotiate a group booking discount for the Ferry, the price includes camping usually a BBQ or Hog Roast. The date we hold it also means that you can extend your stay and catch some of the TT practices or even stay for TT Week. (motorcycle racing)

For more info check out the websites above, email secretary [@] iomvdubclub.com or our facebook page

Hope to see some of you on our beautiful Island.

Cheers
Adrian
