Just wondering if it was essential to run a front anti roll bar, at the moment the bus is on adjusters and i intend to go lower, maybe even tub the front at some point but the anti rollbar seems to catch every now and again as it is.

Can it be disposed of?

Cheers :)

mine is off at the moment, I will be refiting it, its not esential, but it is a good idea, I guess it depends how hard you drive your van :)

I haven't run one since Volksfest Wales 2002 when I got stuck on a piece of metal at the exit/entrance and held up traffic for 10 mins.

I don't think it makes much difference on a lowered bus but on a stock height it does help to reduce roll.

right thats good enough for me then, i've not run one on either of my two beetles which were lowered a lot.

Cheers

I've not had them on my 2 buses over the last 6 years. Lowered them and gave the roll bar to the scrapman

As Jon says, at stock height it does do a job. When lowered however, I think the effect of reducing the centre of gravity more than compensates for the lack of fitment. I chuck mine into corners and roundabouts far harder than you ever would a stock height bus. It's great fun having someone tailgaiting then seeing them a way behind after the first corner! And of course this is without the anti-roll bar.

The reason the front anti-roll bars were fitted originally was not just to improve comfort by reducing body roll.

Their other purpose was to try to balance out the handling on the limit by making the vehicle a bit less tail happy.

Thinking about it, when you fit the dropped spindles, your trailing arms will be flaltter when acheving your desired ride height, this will efectively raise the front of the arb, so you may be able to run it and not have any clearence issues!

just a thought!
