I know this has been talked about loads so apologies :(
But I missed the last group buy and just wondered if anyone got one but have changed their minds and looking to move it on :roll:

If not then any suggestions on best place to get one, seems to be numerous options out there, Heritage currently not showing any :?:

Cheers

Just out digging the wifes grave, bless her she thinks I'm building a pond !!

I got mine from firetrace in Ipswich when they were at jimmys farm. I think it was about the same price as the group buys with firetec. Really nice blokes to deal with.

Hi,
Check that it's refillable - Fireteck ones are. A mninor point, but can save you £200 for a new one.

Hi All,

My girlfriend and I have just got into the world of campers and are unsure of what system to go for! We did see a video on You Tube showing different extinguishants in action..powder seemed to be best but does anyone have any experience of this?

** just come off the phone to firetrace in ipswich who say their system is refillable and the only one to carry the CE mark, they certainly recommend the powder option

How common are engine fires on these old busses ?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8y6a3sJTK0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

just youtube vw on fire...... i put a late up for you....

the problem is people don't replace fuel hoses enough, modern petrol eats away at rubber hose and that's usually the cause, also with the engine at the rear you don't usually notice as quick as if the engines in front.

Change the lines and fit a firetec.

Hi ricky just had a look at the link then went on to YouTube and searched vw fires etc. My lil boy said he wants to b a fireman... He has since changed his mind . it is quite worrying i may need to look into some safety equipment as i know nothing about it at mo. what i do know is when i purchased my vw the chap said he had replaced all the fuel line and filter but u can never b to sure. what percentage of people have auto fire extinguisher in there bus ?

seen sombody mount one of these in engine bay does any body rate them?

Hi.i.m really interested in one of these.do they come with detailed instructions to fit.and can anyone tell me please if they are easy enough to install. Cheers mark.

I spoke to this guy today. http://www.vwaircooledworks.co.uk/Fire-Extinguisher-System.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It looks a great system without the obvious disadvantage of powder after discharge.
I've put it on my shopping list. 8)

Looks like the job. also found this....

And this....

If the whole messy powder thing doesnt bother you,everyone should install one of these, £30 for an 'automatic' extinguisher,that could potentially save your bus...... :shock:

I thought this was a good idea, I think someone did install one - would be useful to see how they got on:

Only just seen this,

Group buys are difficult, we do offer early bay members a discount.

I don't know a huge amount about these at present until we get the first batch here and i can examine one I can't really give any more info.
