Frod developed some problems. The charging light stopped on and there was a faint odour of burning wires at first. So I made some phone calls. Over the years I've added a 12v lighter type socket, a number of alarm sounders with cavalier boot lid switches to operate them. I got fed up of inflating the cylinder for the washers so I crossed over to the dark side and fitted a nissan micra reservoir and pump system. But here was the clever bit (not in everyone's book though) I cut the valve from the back of the washer control and fitted a gate switch instead. It fits in such a way that the original plunger operates the electric switch instead. So just to be on the safe side I checked out my wiring. I had the dynamo checked. that was putting out 15v. We thought it maybe the regulator. But the indicators began to make the petrol gauge pulse from empty to full. So I was soon back at the garage. So far we've found that the petrol gauge & charge light wires have burnt out down the full length of the van. So it looks like it'll be at the garage for a few more days. :(
