just doing some work on the front end and have the beam stripped ..

My bottom ball joints are shot .. vertical movement .. but the top one seem real tight and ok ..

Is is good practise to change all 4 or is just changing the bottom ones ok ..

I am gonna put new boots all round though ..

I know i will have to get them pressed somewhere .. anyone know anywhere in Yorkshire to recommend and how much am i looking at ..

Cheers

I'd change all 4, it's not worth stripping it again at a later date. You'll kick yourself if you dont change them all.

Much easier to get four reconned trailing arms and ball joints from Coolair. About £100 for the lot.

^^^^^what he said^^^^^

There used to be a guy in Castleford that did old vw's , dunno if he is still there...

Cheers guys .. cool air sounds a good plan ..

by the time i have bought ball joints, cleaned my trailing arms and had the joints pressed in, i think it comes to more than that anyway ..

.. are the trailing arms differents between drums and discs?

is it exchange at cool air?

Cheers

I had all four of mine do in one go. Definately saves stripping all over again and gives you peace of mind for a while. Managed to get mine pressed for 20 notes in worcester area.

yeah im kinda torn now ..

I looked at the decent ball joint kit from heritage (heavy duty ones..) and the full kit with boots and the fixing kit for the torsion bar is £99 ..

Cool air are £140 plus postage and a 2 - 4 week wait ..

Not that my bus will be running again by then but you know how impatient we can get !

... I think the availability for having them pressed for the price of a pint may swing it!

.. what actually holds them into the arm? I can't really see from the diagram without having one removed infront of me ..

Do they just push out from the top leaving the tapered bush on the joint ..

Cheers
