Hi guys, been a while, but we have been busy developing a few new bits and bobs. After driving the Bus around for four years mildly lowered the time has come to nail her! The Bus now runs an AirKraft modified CB 4" narrowed Split Bus beam and has Split drop spindles and narrowed trailing arms. We have designed and made shock tower extension brackets that bolt on to the CB beam so that you can run any shock inc. air! The brackets allow a much better shock angle meaning you have a decent fulcrum angle for the air shocks to work properly.
For the past 15 years I have been running air shocks on all my vans, but only managed to get a max of 2" lift with regular air shocks. The improved angle now allows 4" of lift on cheapo air shocks! Or six inches with the expensive Firestone air shocks! The Bus drives like a beauty and can drop so low the front bumper is only 4" off the floor!
We have also developed a bolt-on air shock system for the rear and are in the process of doing serious road testing. So far, the ride is phenominal - suspension feels like a stocker, but has 4.5 inches of lift or drop. We had to section the chassis for clearance of the driveshafts and UJs - as you know, Bays have real problems of chassis clearance at the rear.
After two years of road testing on Chris Lambourne's 1962 Split Bus we are happy that the Weeman/AirKraft Porsche 996 radial mount braking system is a go! It is a true bolt on kit for Splits and Bays of all years with 4-pot Brembo Porsche Calipers and drilled, grooved and vented discs. The system fits under 15" Fuchs wheel!
What else is new? A little bit of sign writing
