Hiya, I've got both (and more!)

comparisons and ideas on my blog here

I've been thinking about a 4m camping and canvas bell tent, instead of having the old square canvas awning attached to the van
Are they as easy to put up as they look?
Also when you book a site ,do you book a tent spot or the vw itself as a pitch?
I often prefer the tent fields instead of the caravan / motorhome ones ,but thought I might get turfed out if we didn't all sleep in the tent? As there are 4 of us its a bit of a squeeze with no pop top and a front hammock, luckily my youngest fits across the back shelf by the spare wheel at the moment !

They are up and pitched in 10 minutes - simples!!

I always book a tent pitch - the van is purely my 'car'

Invariably they will charge less for a tent pitch as well

Only problem I'm having is picking the brand
Can't afford some of them
Like the Sibley 400,some makes get good reviews on 1 site and not another!
I want a 4m with zip in groundsheet and possibly a fly screen door

I guess no one on the camp sites check where your sleeping and say you should be in the caravan section then :)

Canvascamp are fine - Sibley 4m is a decent tent

Safe with soulpad, karma, belltentuk

Avoid boutique camping and glam camping

I would say if in doubt go for a 5m - pack size and pitching negligible compared to the 4m, but a lot more room

Also pay the extra for a sig or zig..!!!

My blog might help you decide

Hi
Yes def a zig
Also seen the hypercamp Eldorado which although doesn't look as cool has a separate sleeping area and again is easy to pitch!
My main concern lol

The elderado will take longer than a bell to pitch, more guys .

Lot less usable space as well

Nice tents from obelink tho

We have just gone back to a bell tent
4 m with zip groundsheet and door fly screen.
I can get it put up on my own in around 13-15 min .

i have a soulpad 5 m bell tent ......ten minutes to put up on my own , the best thing for camping ever, its awesome and loads of room, we sleep in it and use the bus for eating in .......win win
