hia, apart from the well known Ankor wax, whats the best wax people are putting on original paint for protection with a few small iffy area's? iffy meaning just down to primer. van is stored outside ..thankyou

If you want something easy to apply that lasts a long time have a look at collinite wax - gives a decent enough shine, cheap etc. Designed for harsh canadian winters.

I use Mer.....
Seems to do the trick, my bus has been parked up 1/4 mile from the beach for the past 4yrs

Collinite is a winner according to tests and reviews. See here http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/collinite-476s-super-doublecoat-auto-wax/prod_207.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Just bought myself a tub thanks to Marriedblonde. :D

If collinite can last 6 months through a canadian winter...

Seriously though if you only want to wax your car occasionally i.e 6-9 months you wont go wrong. Brilliant stuff. Easy to apply and get a decent finish. I gave this to my 76 year old father to wax my mums car. Even he managed to get a good finish

Im thinking about this and g3 & g10 compound to polish out some small homebrew repairs and to bring the original paint back to life.

Looks cheap as chips if you look at the bundle at the bottom.

What paint are you looking at fixing? Is it new or old?

Vw paint is quite tough....so those compounds moght not touch it...

New on one rear corner and the bottom of both doors done with a rattle can. Good match but a bit of orange peal. Will wet and dry it but then want to polish the rest of the paint to blend in.

Mer for me also :msn4:
Been using it for years now, easy to apply and polish off! Protects against salty air ( by the sea), and doesnt seem too abrasive. I use it all over - paintwork, great on glass, chrome, etc.
Only stuff i use on the harley too

Make sure you use plenty of water with the polish to stop it burning the paint.

I too use Collinite

I bought a tin of Collinite 915 Marque D'Elegence after reading a review in C&B, never looked back. Tin lasts for a long while. :D
