I have been working on my engine today , and the bakealite thing on top of the block was cracked so figured i need another one , hope they are still available  My question is , its broken off and left some inside the engine block , , So I need to remove it , Dont know how to remove it tried pliers and no good . I don't want any bits of bakealite in the engine

All help much appreciated people :)

Is this the fuel flange thing? Mine broke off aswell. If it is that they are still avalible. Try long nose plyers?

Yeah Matt the thing that sits just to the right of the distributor , Tried pliers can grab the bugger :?

you need one of those bendy grabber tools, should have them at halfords or most motor factors

like this

Fuel Pump Intermediate Flange!

Mine was stuck fast so I ended up drilling it and whacking flushing oil through the engine.

Hi!

How about using a coat hanger or other long pointy thing with a dollop of grease on the end, or use similar pointy thing with half set araldite or other similar sticky thing to stick to the loose bits? Wrap some double sided tape or such like?
Improvise dude!

Hope you get the bits out ok.

Cheers!

Whats this flushing oil Prof ??

May use it as a last resort

These are a nightmare. They swell up and go brittle. You dont want those bits in your engine at all.

You'll probably end up breaking it into tiny pieces so an engine flush will be in order. Hopefully you'll get it all out.

If the new one is tight then grind, file or sand some off the outside diameter until it is a loose fit otherwise it swell when hot and pinch the fuel pump rod which will give the same effect as running out of fuel. When it cools down the engine will start again

Thats why I decided to drill! I worked up through the sizes in order, I figured it was easier to flush thin flakes of swarf than lumps of cracked bakerlite.

Well I hope it works for you. Let us know how you get on!!

As engine was out i turned it upside down , and drilled from below , then got the remaining bits out through where dynamo sits , May still use flush though , just to be safe , cheers for all the help guys - this forum is great ;)
