Hi I have a LHD westy and driving on dual roads I find it difficult overtaking due to the westy cupboard being a huge blind spot... just wondered if there is any bigger door mirrors on the market that wouldnt look out of place? or maybe concaved?

Hiya moon,

Overtake? Geez, I don't think I've ever done that with my Bus. ;)

Here in the States I have noticed several Busses that have been fitted with larger "panel" mirrors commonly found on pick-up trucks. Definitely not original style but they do seem to work pretty well.

Its the 1st Bus I have owned that is capable of overtaking, not sure what it has in the back, some worked engine which was in there when I got it... told it was a 2l

I think a chrome truck mirror is my best option, have to try one and se how it looks.

Take a look at these http://www.justkampers.com/shop/typ...-mirror-nearside-left-larger-size-j12179.html. These are fitted on new Brazillian bays. Some people fit truck mirrors too.

Thats the kinda thing...just a shame its not chrome

Have seen some people with the truck style mirrors (cant remember the link though :? ) and they do look cool, have you though of maybe fitting a blind spot mirror (you used to be able to get the little concave mirrors that just stuck onto the existing mirror) or possibly a caravan towing mirror?

Take a look in the for sale section "Graham L" has a Westy for sale "£7250 Landed" and it has truck style
mirrors fitted so it will give you an idea of how it will look. I've got similar on my 69 panel van and they
work great. Got some replacement mirror heads from a company called A1 mirrors £14 a pair not sure if they do suitable
mounting arms though.

could try one of these ?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-BEETLE-CAMPER-OVERTAKING-MIRROR-FITS-ON-GUTTER_W0QQitemZ360209206326QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item53de244c36" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

with a blindspot curved mirror face - could be removed ie not permanent?

I actually bought one of these but there was 2 probs with it... firstly as I was viewing it from the LHD drivers seat the door pillar was in the line of view and secondly I couldnt open the passenger door with it in place, the door fouled :lol: I tried it in many positions but was no good for what I needed.
