BJ vs King Pin beam assy's width

How much narrower is a stock king pin beam to a stock ball joint beam? I am talking about the complete assy (drum to drum) on each. Am I right by saying the beam itself is the same, but the trailing arms on a king pin beam assy areroughly 1/2 narrower each side. This making the the complete swap (BJ to K&L) 1" narrower ?
