how they ever expect anyone to buy an organisation with a reputation for loosing things, rarely being on time and generally being crap is beyond me.

Im sure many of you have opposite experiences to me, and some of you may work for them, i dont know, my rants rarely take information like this into account, but recently, they have been even more **** than normal. when i pay for next day delivery i expect to have something delivered the next day, not almost two weeks later.

I ordered myself a new airbrush on saturday, and thought i wont pay for a better delivery since i never get it, and just went for the standard 'within two working days' option. now i may be being picky, but within 2 working days from saturday is not the next saturday (at the earliest since todays post came and went with no sign of an actual delivery).

and they spent however many million pounds re-branding a few years ago... i think the first thing they need to do is get their deliveries back to early morning like they used to be. i got my volksworld early enough to take it to work with me and do nothing all day, now i have to wait till i get home and read it instead of cooking dinner for when Emmalene gets back.
And the second thing would be to stop promising a delivery service the cannot honour, if it said i might recieve my parcel some time in the forthcoming millenium at least i would not be dissapointed when it didnt arrive for two weeks, and then instead of being pissed off that it took so long i would be overjoyed that it only took two weeks.

Rant over.

this may rapidly turn into one of those can of worms type threads.. should be fun.

royal mailneed to get back to basis !!

wtf is it all about when you go to post a parcel the options are a joke ,24hr -recorded -next day- 3 to 5 days- guaranteed -signed for -parcel force -1st class    ...................just a simple next day delivery or 3 to 5 day delivery (both without loosing it and without damaging it)

like it used to be!! ;)

chris

ps feel better now

I'd happily settle for MY post delivered to MY address instead of the neighbour knocking on the door and handing it to me!

Or the posty actually waiting at the door to give me a parcel instead of ringing the bell and doing a 100m sprint back to his van and me finding valuable parcels left in plain sight on the door step!

quick update....

Still waiting.
we shall see what tomorow brings.

It is annoying when stuff goes pear shaped, but they do deleiver a lot of stuff day in day out that you never even think about because its 'right'.
Its still amazing that a letter can get to the other end of the UK 99 times out of 100 for under 50p!

I do have a theory that the 'parcel-doorbell' sprint is become they work on the probability of people being out, so just bring the cards out and not the packages!

I used to spend £50000 a year on postage with my company  all went royal mail, but because they became so un reliable, with half out of our 100+ parcels a day being damaged or lost or late, i spoke to account managers, had them in and spoke to them on the phone to discuss the matter. They could not have given less of **** to be honest  now ANY business these days should worry about this and so i moved the business over to courier, got a better rate and halved my bill in postage, plus in the 2 years i have used the courier, not one parcel has been lost or damaged! ******* result

How the hell they have the balls to strike over pay I will never know  Royal Mail is going down the tubes, its a huge shame but thats the fact. My mate is a postman and i know exactly what goes on there and believe me im not suprised the company is down the *******!

As a company that relies on next day service and prompt undamaged goods service (which i really dont think is to much to ask for!!) I cannot use Royal Mail, they strike at the drop of a hat, which makes me wet myself cos they all take the day off "for the strike" and 99% of them just stay at home, if you believe in strikes get down the ******* picket line!! dont sit at home on your playstation moaning that you earn 4p a week, do something about it! honestly FFS

TBH Ive been so ****** off with the royal mail and there piss poor customer service its Untrue , HOW can anyone in the commercial world justify a 3 hour lunck break at my local sorting office  :x :x :x

The sooner its sold off and privatised the Militant bunch of *******s will have to do some work .......

Ive no doubt there will be posties going , Its not fair etc BUT reforms that this goverment are bringing in to public sector workers etc Hit the industry that Im in ten years ago and my last job 12 years ago . Its there turn to catch up with the private sector and realise that real jobs Not cosseted RM jobs are bloody hard work/difficult and at times down right a struggle

:x

So true Gadget, i know allot of posties who start at 6 and are home by half 11   seriously unbelieveable it really is

Can you imagine though going to work tomorrow and saying right im going home to strike as i want more money? your boss would go er okay bye then, dont come back.

Its the trade unions that "fight" for the workers, you cant strike in this day and age it ***** people off you idiots, do you not realise that?? seriously get the blinking thing shut down before it costs us even more money! like the idea they had of giving loads of posties their own smart car!! wtf (it was trialed in a few places) what they need is to stay at work the full day and dont drop, stamp, crush, rip, steal or even probably piss on my mail cos it is quicker to do that and then you can get home.

I had a seriously important letter from my bank turn up once.....half the ******* letter! in a bag saying they were sorry   . I rung them up to complain and they suprise suprise didnt give a toss, if it wasnt so funny i would have driven down the sorting office and posted said letter in managers arse!

Rm staff always remind me of this lot.

some of them need a good boot up the arse.

im glad iv given everyone the opportunity to vent some steam, thats why i love this forum.

oh, and IM STILL BLOODY WAITING!!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure I'm going to get flamed for this, but...

I'm a postie!

The sad fact is that I feel the same as you guys - I've done the job for about 4 years and absolutely love it (working outside etc) but I, too, feel frustrated about the way some of my colleagues around the company act (although my office is actually run very well). This is largely down to local (weak) management and a very militant union.

At our office we don't go home early - ever! We work our 8hr 20min day every day.

At our office around 40% of the staff worked during the strikes recently (including me).

Any postie that leaves a "Sorry you were out" card without even taking the parcel with them is asking for trouble - it's not on and shouldn't happen.

I've only ever seen one postie mistreating a parcel at our office and he was quite rightly suspended on the spot - in my experience damage usually occurs because items are so poorly wrapped.

TBH I think that most of the problems described in the previous threads are caused by 'career posties' that have had it too easy for too long - these guys have never had a proper job in the real world and the very thought of a 'normal' working day sends them into a blind panic (and usually sick leave to boot). Those of us that has come into the organisation from other industries are more likely to be hard-working, reliable and conscientious. This situation isn't helped by the fact that the CWU still holds a lot of power within Royal Mail - although it should be noted that membership numbers are falling fast as newer recruits increasingly see it as outdated and troublesome.

Please don't tar us all with the same brush - many of my colleagues are hard working and honest individuals. It's always the bad stuff that grabs the headlines.

;)

Well said dood 8)

I am certainly not doing any taring, and as you said there are big divisions in Royal Mail. |In my own personal, but very vaid opinion in business and personal, the Royal Mail has been a shocking service to me and millions of pounds can be saved within the company. What annoys most people is the fact that in a small way, the tax payer is funding it and when our money is being mispent it gets us angry, especially when the service that is offered does not work.

What must annoy people like yourself is the fact that say your depot runs like a charm, it then goes to another depot, run and containing fuckwits, all your hard work will be undone. Its this lack of continuity over the whole thats **** and needs to be sorted.

The union are my biggest hate and should try and work out the problem rather than moaning and causing the company to slide down in everyones estimations. Unfortunatly the "im not getting paid enough" rant doesnt work any more, get another job, or eductae yourself in another trade and move on. You are not owed a living! FFS

Not having a go at you J & T its nice to hear that there is some hope. ;) :D

as above, wasnt started to lynch the individuals, its all the organisation that needs the shake up. I work for Leeds City Council..... nuff said.

Dont shoot the monkey, shoot the organ grinder.
