brake fluid top up

Noticed my reservoir is low - is there any particular fluid I can put in and how much?

Dot 4 , fill the reservoir about 3/4 full ?

Dot4 brakefluid as Rlepecha said, but I always fill it up untill the top edge of the reservoir.

I bought myself a large syringe for topping up the reservoir as it's poxy to do without dripping/spilling any. Works a treat.

I did the same then the plunger was sticky, pushed to hard and spilt it anyway works good most the time though

Just in case u didn't know, the reason for putting it in with a syringe is

A) it's really difficult to get at

And B). It's pretty toxic stuff, it won't do your skin much harm, but will strip any paint it's spilt on, and damage wood/ carpet.

If u fill it to the brim, any minor back pressure will make it overflow, best leave it about quarter inch low. ( and if you are under 40 that's about 6mm :lol: )

Not really, as long as it's DOT4, and whatever is in there at the moment is stopping your bus, it's fine.........I've been topping mine up for years with whatever is on the garage shelf......DOT4, Universal , and sometimes even a bit of old weed killer ( that was a mistake though !)
