Help please !. I have a non-servo drum braked bay imported from California which I am converting from LHD to RHD. When switching the pedal assy over to the RH side, the master cylinder which was between the main chassis rails in the LHD position is now positioned outside of the main chassis rail and therefore in the wheelarch. Spares providers have provided conflicting views so I need some help !. Is it acceptable for master cylinder to be located in the wheelarch with a fabricated guard to protect it or is this a definite no no !.

Thanks

Garry

I have an original RHD Aug 67 with the same brake set up. The master cylinder is mounted under the driver's floor so that only the very rear most end of the cylinder and the pipes intrude into the front inboard corner of the wheel arch by about three quarters of an inch (19mm if you prefer!). This is then covered by a very simple splash guard. As I say this is an original set up so I assume it's OK. The downside is that the m/cylinder and pedal box, unlike the LHD version which is inside the front undertray, assembly is almost completely unprotected and does suffer for it. I'm in the process of some fairly extensive repairs and renovations on mine and will be making a cover for the underside of the driver's floor in an effort to protect all the new bits & pieces that I have laboriously made and fitted there.
