Evening folks,

My engine is out at the minute and I'm replacing this that and the other. It's a stock engine albeit with twin carbs. I was just wondering whether a breather box is an addition worth making or are they best left for modified engines?

Cheers

Ian

not really worth it on a stock engine IMO. generally they are most use where high revving / hard driving and you generating a lot of oil vapour - not worth the money unless you have plans to upgrade the rest of the engine in future.

I would say for the money you wont really gain much - but theres no harm in fitting one if you really want.

You shouldn't need one if your piston rings are ok.

If you have oil mist around the breather, you might want to check the rings. Combustion gas blows by the pistons & presurises the crank case.

The stock breather should be fine on a stock engine. Breather kits are used on bigger pistons where the air inside the case can't move around fast enough.
