Breather hose connection

Good evening

Apologies for sounding like the complete novice that I am but what appears to be the oil breather hose has become disconnected at one end - and I cannot see where it needs to be reattached. Advice on where it needs to go would be appreciated - many thanks (It is going into the garage next week so will be having a thorough servicing but I would like to get the van there in one piece)

I’d start looking in, or under or on your air filter system first off. Give us some decent piccies please as I can’t see much of your carb or the engin3 bay. Possibly a ‘catch tank ‘ somewhere ?

Thanks - will take some pics in the morning. Not sure how long it has been disconnected from the air filter or whatever it was connected to. I noticed some fresh looking oil on the driveway today after I had checked the oil levels so perhaps dislodged it.

What happens if you drive, as I did briefly before noticing, without it connected??

Fine if it’s the oil breather apart from being a bit messy and violating the eco gang, possible that Greta will turn up and stamp her foot but not gonna do too much. That said, it’s possible it ‘may ‘ alter your fuel air mixture slightly depending on where it was fitted. Upshot is to fix it, but running the motor won’t end the world but I wouldn’t want to drive anywhere as it may get caught up in your fan, fan belt, alternator or bottom pulley. Even if you reconnect it and hold it up with cable ties until you can fix it properly. My guess is still the underside of your air filter.
That hose don’t look toooo special either. If it’s the wrong type of hose it can swell internally and that could possibly be enough to block the pipe and force it loose and make it drop.

Be careful as the nut from the end will be floating around inside the air filter and could get sucked in the carb possibly jamming the throttle open.

Here a few pictures. Am I correct in that it is supposed to fit into the opening on the underside of the air filter, as per the above picture?

I am not sure where the nut is - I don't know if it's floating inside the air filter as I certainly can't see it anywhere else.

Think you have it spot on now bud. I’d open up your air filter and have a look inside. I’d then thoroughly clean both the threads on the nut and the threads on the elbow then a tiny dab of adhesive so it don’t come undone again.
