Just fitted CB performance adjusters to my front beam to drop her about 4".
Removed the bump stops too.
Is it okay to run without bumpstops?
I can fabricate some adjustable stops but are they necessary?
Is their original purpose to protect the ball joints?

I'm pretty sure that's a secondary reason - if you didn't have any bumpstops and your suspension failed your tyre would end up against the top of your inner wheel arch - this could cause a wheel (or both) to lock up, your bus would dive violently and you'd be in a lot of trouble!

If you can I'd recommend a replacement!

;)

you can get adjustable bumpstops from red 9 design.
its a good idea to run them if you can..
