Hey folks. What colour Green would you say my bus is from your eyes? The colour is meant to be Velvet Green but its definitely isn't. I'm thinking its Peru Green or near. Quite annoyed because I wanted Velvet because that's her factory colours but they obviously mixed the wrong shade. I need touch up paint and cant get a match so what's your thoughts folks ? Cheers.

Hey velgeeno you can take it to a paintshop or take fuel flap of and get it scanned for the paint formula. Very common now so should be simple to get some paint for the t/in.

Hey Gabs. Ohh I have tried a lot of places where I am last year. I took my dash ash tray to be scanned and they cant even find a colour match. I get ohh our scanner don't go that far back for classics and i was like she was done in 2014. And that's various body shops and "paint specialists". Some couldn't even be bothered and I was like bye. I mean i would understand if it was a really obscure colour but its just odd ha.

That’s a shame Velgreeno hopefully you can solve the colour match at some point maybe some people at shows this year maybe able to help. Looks good though.

I hope I can too 😕. The most odd thing is I haven't shown her in a VW show since I have had her restored. If i cant remedy the prob I'm just going to have to get her resprayed again ha. Actually in all seriousness I really need to get out of that train of thought fast! Very slippery slope for me ha 😬.

Could be a "custom" mix as in we have this paint and that paint and if we mix might have enough for a respray. Done that myself (not to paint a car) so I had enough for the job.

Oh right. I just think its a case of the guy who mixed it made a mistake on the mix and thought that will do. I cant even ask because the business went bust about 7 years ago. Strange that 😕🤙.

That paint person is an idiot. They can absolutely scan it and come up with a colour formula to match Your paint colour, whether it’s a perfect colour match for L512 velvet green??? That’s another thing. There are plenty of colour books that can be used to match a modern paint as well , as for getting a perfect colour match with modern day paints for old school paint products with different base ingredients and colour additives……. Most early VW colours look different depending on light source so you get different shades in pictures of the same colour. Chris had his painted velvet green 15 or so years ago, it can look dark or light
